The police and security forces assaulted last year’s May 1^st peaceful demonstrations in the city of Sanandaj, arrested Mr. Amani and 12 other activists. He was released on $50,000 bail after 42 days in detention. He was sentenced to two-and half years in prison which he appealed and the appeal court reduces his sentence to 6 months prison term.

We are appealing to all trade unions and Human right organizations around the world to support Mr. Amani and demand his freedom. Your letters and your support will be very effective in convincing the Iranian authorities to re-consider Mr. Amaniès situation and it will also be a great support for Iranian workers in their struggle for their rights.
